Is the NCS test painful?
The child will feel quick, tiny tingling or buzzing sensations from small electrode pulses. It is not harmful and children tolerate it well with parental comfort.
Will my child need sedation?
No sedation or anesthesia is used. Parents stay next to the child throughout the test to keep them calm.
How long does it take?
The test takes between 20 and 30 minutes to evaluate target nerves.
When will reports be ready?
Reports are completed and handed over within 1 hour of finishing the test.
NCS Pre-Test Preparation Guidelines
- Ensure the skin is clean. Do not apply creams, ointments, or oils on the limbs.
- Dress the child in shorts and short-sleeve shirts to ease electrode placement.
- Reassure your child that the buzzing sensation is safe and temporary.
