Child Having Daily or Frequent Headaches
Frequent or daily headaches in children — especially with morning vomiting, vision changes, or worsening over weeks — need neurological evaluation to rule out serious causes.
“Headache is the most common neurological symptom in children. While the vast majority are tension headaches or migraine, certain patterns — called red flag headaches — indicate increased intracranial pressure or other serious pathology. Morning headaches with vomiting, headaches that wake a child from sleep, and progressively worsening headaches over weeks are red flags that require MRI brain evaluation.”

Frequently Asked Questions
When is a child's headache a medical emergency?
Seek emergency care immediately if your child has: the worst headache of their life ('thunderclap' onset), headache with high fever and neck stiffness (meningitis), headache with confusion or reduced consciousness, or headache following a head injury. These are different from the typical morning-pattern or migraine headache and require same-day emergency evaluation.
