By 12 months, most children say one or two simple words. By 18 months they typically have several words. By 24 months they string two-word phrases together. If your child is significantly behind these milestones, has lost words they used to say, or has limited eye contact and social engagement, schedule a developmental evaluation - earlier is always better.
