What to do during your child's first seizure
Stay calm. Place your child gently on their side on a flat surface. Loosen any tight clothing around the neck. Do not put anything in the mouth, do not give water, and do not try to restrain the movements. Time the seizure - most stop within 1 - 2 minutes. After it ends, your child may be sleepy or confused for a while; let them rest. Call emergency services if the seizure lasts longer than 5 minutes, repeats without recovery, or is the child's first ever seizure. Take a short video if you can - it helps your neurologist enormously.
